Here's why being #1 is exhausting

You want to be the best. That's awesome.

Being the "best" at something could mean various things depending on the situation, the person and (most importantly) the rules to the "game" (if there is one).

Most of us were trained to have a desire to become the best at something (or at least pretty good at it). We all want to become high performers in the field that we are in. It could be creative work. It could be repetitive tasks. It could be a job we love or a job we hate. It could be "I want to be the best parent!".

There is absolutely nothing wrong with striving to be the best. I do all the time in many parts of my life. I'm sure you do as well (at least I hope to some capacity?).

Now here's were it gets interesting...

In order to be "the best" at something, there's got to be competitive players. There also must be a set of rules in place to determine a winner who qualifies to be dubbed "the best" based on a # of statistics and outcomes to make it true. In basketball (for example) there are a set of rules, players and there is only one outcome. We can determine which team is "the best" (championship winner) and can take it a step further by determining the ultimate best by how many total championships were won (give or take).

Since I'm in the music industry, let's take a look at why this game theory concept is interesting in my field.

Sure, there are metrics like most albums sold, most platinum albums, most streams, most Grammys, most billboard hits, etc.

Here's why I think this type of game theory can't apply to musicians (or creative people that make art):

1. It's all subjective

2. There is no collectively agreed upon single metric to determine "the #1 best"

So, in theory, if we strive to be "the best" music creator in our field, we are playing a game that is impossible to win.

What happens when we continue to play a game that's impossible to win? We feel like we keep losing.

When we feel like we keep losing, we get stressed out. And then it's just downhill from there.

Now, I'm not saying that striving to be the best is all bad. We can use that Jordan or Lebron mentality to push ourselves to become high performers, which is awesome and SUPER beneficial! So let's be clear. I am by all means not saying that we shouldn't strive to be the best in our field.

What I am saying is this: don't obsess over it to the point where it affects your ability to live a fulfilling and abundant life.

In this creative industry, there will always be someone out there that is "better" than you or "has more _____" than you. If we live our lives based on this metric, we are bound to be unhappy most of the time.

It's a fascinating, simple and important concept to consider.

So what's the solution?

Here's what I think.

Strive to be the best YOU. Don't even think about it in a way where you are competing with yourself (I've said this plenty of times on social media so my bad lol). Become the best VERSION of you. Pay attention to the journey and know there is no destination of bliss. #1 in any field (especially this one) is temporary. There are ebbs and flows. You'll be up one day and down another. That's totally ok!

The only game you should consider playing is the game of joy, abundance and self fulfillment.

Let go a little bit. It all doesn't have to be so serious. The world is abundant enough for everyone to enjoy their own success. Customize your life and create your own rules.

Your game theory is inside of you.

Unleash your version of that, today.

I’m Jules Desmet, and I’m from New Orleans, USA. I thought people who fell for scams were stupid before I was conned, but I didn’t even realize I had lost USD 300,000.00 in a binary investment trading fraud until a month later. Everything about the website and services I utilized appeared so real and authentic, but I realized something wasn’t right when they stopped responding to my messages and emails. Since I had no idea what to do or how to approach it, I was prepared to concede defeat. until I spoke with a friend about it, and he suggested that I get in touch with Recovery Nerd (recoverynerd@mail.com) to help me recover the money I had invested. which I did, they were quite helpful and made a lot of effort to return all of my money. To anyone who has been defrauded of their money, I would heartily recommend them. They handle every aspect of hacking because they are expert hackers. +61 (488) 893-280 on WhatsApp. Inform them of my recommendation.

Hello everyone, I hope this message reaches the right audience, I’m an entrepreneur and I was eager to invest in cryptocurrency when I found out about it and how I could triple my income. I met someone online who promised unusually high returns on my investment. This man seemed knowledgeable and was able to easily convince me. After investing a significant amount of money into this cryptocurrency, I soon realized that I couldn’t withdraw from this investment fund and it was all a scam. I was in debt and my business was in ruins. Luckily for me, I came across a pop-up about cryptocurrency recovery and cybersecurity experts who could help me recover all my funds, that goes by the name MorphoHack, is a cyber security and cryptocurrency recovery company who was able to assist me in recovering my investment funds. I’m truly grateful for their services and I highly recommend them to everyone who needs to recover their crypto.

I was a victim of a Bitcoin investment scam a few months ago. The platform appeared legitimate, offered large profits, and had a polished appearance—until it wasn’t. When they refused to allow me withdraw any of my money after I had invested a sizable amount of my cash, I knew I had been duped. Seeing my $225,000 in hard-earned money vanish broke my heart. I was exposed to the Recovery Nerd hacking company just when I believed there was no hope left. I wasn’t convinced that lost Bitcoin could be recovered at first, but they performed their magic when I gave them all the information they needed. To my astonishment, they were able to locate the money that had been stolen and retrieve the majority of my Bitcoin! Remain optimistic even if you have lost money in a cryptocurrency fraud. Reach out to them at recoverynerd@ mail.com; they were able to help me when I believed it was impossible, and they may be able to help you as well. Thank you.

Someone impersonating a celebrity on Instagram conned me. I spoke with this scammer on WhatsApp for eight months, and after sending them money using Bitcoin, I was asked for my banking information. They then conned me out of my seventy thousand dollars in unemployment benefits, saying, “Oh, I sent cash to your account,” without giving me a chance to confirm that it was my unemployment money. They were quite understanding and waited for my payment for eight months before I revealed them via a WhatsApp video. They requested that I use an ATM to purchase Bitcoin. But thanks to Recovery Nerd’s skilled hacker, who started on schedule, I was able to get my $70,000 back. Because of his exceptional skills, I have referred him to friends and coworkers, all of whom ended up becoming happy clients. You can contact him at RECOVERYNERD@MAIL.COM for everything. He has been a huge assistance to me in the trading profession. Hacking and Recovering Funds He is the greatest and possesses a variety of abilities in exposing scammers and retrieving funds.
