Accomplish anything in life with this simple concept
Ok, this isn't another "law of attraction" blog post I promise.
Is there really a "secret" to anything in life? I don't think so. I think everything and anything we need already exists. It's our job to find that information and apply it to our lives. So, where do we go from here?
The idea of "accomplishing something" is very broad and vague. If I cook a meal for myself, that's an accomplishment. If I call someone back, that's also an accomplishment.
So what type of accomplishments do we want to focus on today?
Let's focus on the big ones. The "I want to make a living off of my music" ones. The "I want enough financial freedom to do what I want, when I want without having to worry" ones. The "I wanna buy my momma a house" ones.
How do we get there and where do we even start?
Start by asking yourself "What exactly do I want to accomplish? What is my big goal and what does that feel like?" Imagine already having accomplished the goal. Where are you right now? Who's around you? What type of clothes are you wearing in that visualization? Are you in a different city or country? Close your eyes and imagine this goal is already accomplished and feel it like you're actually there. The more vivid the imagination, the better.
Now that you've felt what it feels like to accomplish your goal, where do you go from here? Most people go about their everyday lives and don't change a thing. No actual pursuit. The excitement fades and becomes a memory. You might re-call this memory a few days or a few weeks later. But eventually, it fades.
Or not...
There's something Steve Jobs said in an interview that really resonated with me. He said something along the lines of "Look around you. There's someone out there who created it. There's someone out there who built that thing. They are no smarter than you are, so why not build something too? It's almost like poking the universe and watching it poke you back." Now that's definitely not word-for-word, but that's what he meant. I must say, that is one of the MOST POWERFUL concepts I've come across. How empowering does it feel to know that I can actually take control of my life and create something that could impact myself and the world.
As human beings, I believe we weren't meant to just pro-create and exist. Amongst many other things, one of the things we are good at is BUILDING STUFF. Look at all we have built in just a few centuries. It's mind boggling.
The unfortunate thing is that we were taught to not really go out and build things. We were taught to go to college and pick a job and get a salary. Of course, that's one option and it works for MANY people and is absolutely crucial, but it shouldn't be the ONLY OPTION. Some of us have incredible ideas that could help society in some way, shape or form.
We need to ask ourselves this important question...
Do I want to build something? Why do I want to build it? Will this "thing" help people or create a positive impact to society?
What Steve Jobs taught me is that the desire to build something and the belief that I'm smart and capable enough to do it will determine whether or not I will choose to pursue it. If I don't have those 2 things, I probably won't do it.
It could be a music career. It could be a house. It could be a company, or a label, or a painting. Humans can build anything. Physical objects. Digital Objects. Experiences. Music. Everything.
I believe it is extremely important to get to a place of desire. A very real and vivid DESIRE to build towards something. With that desire comes BELIEF. That combination could be the fuel to get you to actually start accomplishing your goals.
